Na Pali Coast & Whale Watching

NaPali coast is on the western side of Kauai and is mostly uninhabited. Our map of this island includes many references to movies scenes and we are eager to return home to re-watch the movies and see if we recognize the locations. We were fortunate to see whales spouting and breaching but I did not attempt to get photographs. My experience with capturing dolphins in photos has been frustrating and so I resolve to just enjoy seeing them on this trip. Another trip perhaps earlier in the season will give me photos of whales.

  • It was hard to get good photos as many of our fellow passengers would pop up at the last minute with their cell-phones or worse I-pads. Of course I was taking as many photos as I could but with my Canon I presented a smaller visual hindrance than all those arms outstretched with ipads and phones in hand. That seemed to happen whenever the captain would describe something of interest.
